Yesterday we welcomed 78 students from 9 design institutions, based across California, to our Los Angeles office for a day of connection and inspiration at our Tea & Talent event.
Previously run in the UK, our Tea & Talent events are designed to give curious students an exclusive, behind-the-scenes peek at how we innovate, create and design. The day is also an opportunity for students to hear from industry experts and to find out about our business and the creative opportunities available.
This week, students were treated to an exclusive tour of our Speedo office and gained insights into our business and vision from members of our Executive team. A stimulating conversation ensued, led by our Speedo Marketing Director, Lindsay Goodson, and supported by our special guest, multi-Olympic medalist swimmer, @Abbey Weitzeil.
Nate Tracy, Speedo Global Design Director for Hardgoods, shared his career journey and valuable lessons learned, while Erika Abrams from the LA Design Festival and Claire Walsh, from Concept Colour Design, discussed the influence of trends on design
Wrapping up the day was our Tea & Talent organiser and Pentland Brands Creative Talent & Networks Director, Katie Greenyer, giving advice on navigating a career in the creative industries – emphasising the importance of resilience and dedication in achieving career aspirations.
The entire event was a fantastic opportunity to share and celebrate the variety of roles and skills that make up our business, giving students a better understanding of the different routes into our industry and showing that, ultimately, every career journey is unique.
Katie Greenyer says, “It was an incredibly inspirational day. The calibre of our speakers and the power of our brands makes us unique and I know the experience will change the trajectory of so many young lives. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the day such an incredible success”.
