Speedo re-signs Cameron McEvoy in three year deal

Speedo, the world’s leading swimwear brand, is proud to announce the signing of four-time Commonwealth medal winner Cameron McEvoy for a further three years, carrying the partnership through to June 2017.

In his first Commonwealth Games, McEvoy has been incredibly successful claiming silver in the 200m freestyle, on the same night anchored the 4×100m men’s freestyle relay team to gold, silver in the 100m freestyle, and gold in the 4x200m free relay.

McEvoy has worn Speedo for his entire career, with the brand’s official relationship starting in 2011 when he was just 17-years-old. McEvoy says: “Speedo has been there through all of the great moments of my swimming career, along with those not so great, and has moved with me to heights I never could have imagined. I am happy and grateful to be able to move through to the next stage of my swimming career with the team at Speedo.”

At just 18, McEvoy earned himself a place in the London 2012 Olympic team. As one of the youngest in the group, he represented Australia in the 4 × 100m and 4 × 200m freestyle relays with the world’s best.

McEvoy reinforced his reputation as the sport’s next star when he finished fourth in the 100m freestyle at the 2013 World Championships in Barcelona. Following on from this he claimed gold over James Magnussen in the 100m freestyle at the 2014 Australian Championships, with a personal best time of 47.65.

Sean Hastings, Vice President of Product and Marketing at Speedo International said: “Cameron is one of Australia’s finest swimmers and we’re delighted that he will continue to compete in Speedo.  We’re thrilled with his results at the Commonwealth Games which demonstrates his potential going into the 2016 Rio Olympic Games as part of Team Speedo.”
