Rugby players can ditch their football boots – Canterbury is launching its most advanced rugby boot ever

Canterbury's Phoenix Genesis Elite

Canterbury has launched its most advanced rugby boot ever, the Phoenix Genesis Elite, born from insights revealing many rugby players still wear football boots due to a lack of rugby specific alternatives.

Following extensive testing with players across the rugby pyramid – including Wales and British & Irish Lions flanker, Justin Tipuric – Canterbury has developed the lightest and strongest all-round rugby boot it’s ever made.

Its headline feature is the ultra-responsive FLIGHTBEAM technology in the outsole. Taking inspiration from a bird’s wishbone, this innovative technology delivers a powerful energy response for explosive and agile movement with every stride.

Alongside the on-pitch benefits, the Phoenix Genesis Elite also demonstrates Canterbury’s commitment to sustainability, with the boot’s outsole featuring 97% bio-based materials, including the introduction of Pebax® Rnew® material made from castor beans.

Speaking about the new Phoenix Genesis Elite, Tipuric said: “I know just how important it is to have boots that enhance your game and don’t hold you back, which is why I’ve worked closely with Canterbury to help create a boot that I would wear on pitch myself, so that players of all levels can have confidence in their boots in every situation.”

The Phoenix Genesis Elite is available on www.canterbury.com.
