This July, as we celebrate 20 years of supporting up-and-coming creative talent, Pentland Brands is returning to New Designers, the UK’s largest creative graduate festival, to discover the next generation of designers.
For two weeks from the 29th June, the UK’s top design graduates will come together to showcase their talent across textiles, fashion, ceramics, jewellery, product, furniture, animation and graphic design. As part of the festival, we’re offering one talented designer a two-month, paid work experience placement in our Pentland Brands design programme, Design Pool .
Established in 2002, Design Pool has helped diversify our search for fresh talent and support more young people to enter creative careers. The award-winner, who will be selected by seasoned designers from Pentland Brands’ own in-house creative agency, will demonstrate bold, innovative thinking and creative flair.
Visitors to the event will also be able to join a talk by Pentland Brands’ Creative Talent & Network Director, Katie Greenyer, on 7th July. Titled ‘how to make it in your design career’, attendees will hear Katie’s advice on interview skills, how to tackle common barriers and standing out in a competitive industry.
On the upcoming event, Katie says: “This is the tenth year we’ve supported New Designers because we’re always so inspired by the incredible talent we find at the festival. It’s such a fantastic chance to meet the next generation of creatives and I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us this year.”
Design Pool was set up to recruit and develop exceptional talent, across all areas of design, and has nurtured more than 200 young creatives from across four continents. No two days are the same, with designers working on a wide range of briefs, from creating Speedo campaigns to designing TikToks for Kickers, helping them build their creative abilities and also their portfolio of work.
