Mitre launches limited-edition FA Community Shield ball inspired by past winning teams

This week, Mitre unveiled its FA Community Shield Ultimax Pro football. The bespoke limited-edition ball will take centre stage at the new season’s curtain raiser at Wembley Stadium on 10th August, where FA Cup winners, Manchester United take on Premier League champions, Manchester City.

With a unique design, the FA Community Shield Ultimax Pro football pays homage to all the clubs who have played in the competition since it began in 1908. The Delta (chevron) which is synonymous to Mitre, is divided by colour and pattern, representing all the clubs that have won the FA Community Shield over the years. With the proportion of colour within each Delta, illustrating how many times a club has won the trophy. Taking inspiration from select Delta patterns in Mitre’s impressive football archive, the new ball draws on designs from the 90s as well as more recent releases to merge football past and present.

Using Mitre’s high-level ball technology, the Ultimax Pro uses unique four panel thermally bonded construction for increased durability, zero water absorption and shape retention. The Hyperflow debossed grooves improve in-flight dynamics and reduce drag for accurate, pinpoint passing and the Hyperfoam mid-layer improves contact for a responsive first touch and exceptional close control.

Simon Rowe, Mitre Brand Director said: “What a way to start the 24/25 season with the launch of Mitre’s limited edition FA Community Shield Ultimax Pro. As a brand, we’re proud of our football heritage and this new design pays homage to Mitre’s history and the winners of this iconic competition.

“With the same front-running technology that can be expected from the Ultimax Pro, we’re sure that fans and players are going to love this ball and can’t wait to see it in play on Wembley’s hallowed turf on the 10th of August.”

The FA’s Commercial Director, James Gray, added: “The FA Community Shield is one of English football’s longest-running traditions, and brings together some of the best teams and players in the country for a number of good causes.

“The FA Community Shield Ultimax Pro is a fitting tribute to previous winners of this game and iconic designs of the past, and we look forward to seeing it in action next month at Wembley Stadium.”
