WHAT’S THE MISSION FOR THIS ROLE?
You will act as the eyes and ears of the region for the Canterbury & Mitre brand ensuring that commercial needs to aid our growth ambition is balanced with those of the brand. Whether it’s our Mainline range or capsule programs you will ensure we gather the right feedback and insights to help our global product team build the best assortment.
Being an expert in the region, it’s markets, retailers and consumers you will be a key player in supporting the commercial strategy whilst helping distil the brand direction. You will keep a close watch on what the competition is doing and scope out new distribution or white space opportunities.
WHAT DOES THIS ROLE DO?
As our Market Merchandiser – Canterbury & Mitre you will be responsible for:
- Owning the collation and articulation of current and future range needs by collaborating with the EMEA commercial teams
- Understand the mainline opportunity in context of distribution, sales and margin plans. Collate quantitative data and qualitative feedback and flow key take outs into the forward brief process
- Validate the need for teamwear or SMU ensuring it’s understood, on brand and that we maximise the mainline opportunity first. Feed context /rationale into briefs and pressure test forecasted volume
- Scope out long terms roadmaps which can be considered by brand and global product teams and get us ahead of seasonal inputs (3-5 yr)
- Balance the needs of UK, DACH, Western & Southern Europe to ensure we act and make decisions as a region
- Ensure we strike the right balance on segmentation across the region in context of our different ranges
- Shape and maintain our segmentation model – ensure brand and region aligned
- Identify target distribution for our ranges which maximise our opportunity whilst keeping our pinnacle product in the right doors and supporting the brand story
- Ensure our ranges are harmonised across the region and that we maximise our opportunity by identifying the relevant addressable accounts / door base
- Lead the regional competitor watch analysis and playback
- Equip the region, brand and product teams including design and development with who’s winning in the market and how
- Provide insight on hot or upcoming brands, market trends, key growth categories or styles
- Improve our lens on Good, Better, Best pricing needs which aids margin gain whilst keeping us competitive in market. Support price vs. volume analysis and ensure we understand perceived value
- Support seasonal lessons learnt analysis by confirming the performance of the region including winning categories, slow movers and account penetration from both a sell in/through perspective – did we achieve our plan in the way we set out
- Support the regional go-to market strategy
- Provide support at regional and local sales launches to ensure we work the strategy, stay true to plan whilst reacting to new trends/insight
- Drive the equip to sell process by ensuring that all assets are launch ready and localised where needed
- Support ad-hoc or sprint projects
- Play an active role when it comes to in-season initiatives or mid to long-term projects which require regional representation
- Be the gatekeeper of scope and progress to ensure the region is up to speed with key milestones, results vs. expected outcomes
- Champion the market merch function and stay close to colleagues working on other brands to drive consistent approach and best practice
WHAT DO I BRING TO THE ROLE?
You just might be our next superstar if you have the following skills and experience:
- Strong commercial background and understanding of the EMEA region including key markets and retailers
- Analytical and data led mindset – able to harvest and translate data and insight and present key output and learning in an impactful way
- Awareness of the product journey from brief through to sell in/through
- Knowledge of brands in both a sports and swim space
