On Monday, some of the Kickers team and our Creative Director, Katie Greenyer, attended a private viewing of the National Saturday Club’s annual Summer Show at Somerset House, London. On display was the amazing work produced during the Kickers x National Saturday club masterclass at the Northern School of Art, Middlesborough, in March this year.
Kickers Masterclass
Kickers encourages young people to express themselves through creativity. During the masterclass, participants were given a pair of the iconic Kickers high-los, Kick Hi’s and asked to express themselves on a shoe. They were given access to a variety of mediums, and encouraged to go as big or small as they wanted. To get a flavour of the session, watch the video below.
Pentland Brands and the National Saturday Club
Pentland Brands has worked with the National Saturday Club for the past 12 years, helping to provide free extracurricular opportunities for young people aged 13-16. The National Saturday Club runs 107 clubs across 80 universities, colleges, museums and other cultural institutions around the UK, with 83% of the club members coming from widening participation backgrounds, and 50% of those having previously not engaged with extracurricular activities before.
The sessions give them the opportunity to take part in creative activities, develop new skills, build their confidence, and raise awareness of pathways into higher education and future careers. 80% of those who have attended the National Saturday Club found that attending has improved their outlook on the future.
