The Emirates FA Cup and Vitality Women’s FA Cup are built on icons. Iconic replays, comebacks, giant-killings, shoot-outs and last-minute winners. And now a legend is back, with the launch of the Mitre Ultimax Pro making a sensational return for the first rounds of the 2022-23 historic competitions.
Three Ultimax Pro bespoke designs – Limited Edition (only 600 available), Emirates FA Cup and Vitality Women’s FA Cup – celebrate the legendary ball’s 90s heritage with the delta chevrons nostalgic branding used for the original Ultimax, one of the most celebrated and recognisable footballs from the last three decades.
It isn’t just about the style. The Ultimax Pro delivers a more powerful, accurate, and durable ball that makes for an unrivalled performance.
The FIFA quality approved football is engineered with Hyperflow debossed grooves, for incredible flight consistency across all speeds and Hypefoam for maximum striking power. It’s built using a unique four panel thermally bonded construction for unbeatable shape retention and is 32% more durable than its previous model, the Delta Max.
In a nod to the FA Cup sponsors, the Emirates FA Cup ball design incorporates ‘Reds of Emirates’ with accent dark greens and the Vitality Women’s FA Cup ball design includes ‘Purple and Pinks of Vitality’ with accents of silver.
The Limited Edition ball design is a throwback to Mitre’s iconic branding from the 90s, with blue, red and gold hues.
Simon Breckon, Mitre Brand Director, explains how this classic football captures Mitre’s ethos of ‘real football for real fans’: “The Mitre Ultimax Pro cutting-edge innovation and iconic 90s Mitre design is the perfect blend of nostalgia teamed with trailblazing engineering. We’re a brand for real fans who love the game, and we hope that the return of our iconic Ultimax Pro ball will inspire a new generation.”
Navin Singh, The FA’s Commercial Director, added: “It’s important that we continue to recognise and celebrate the histories of The Emirates FA Cup and Vitality Women’s FA Cup as they continue to evolve and adapt alongside the modern game.
“The Mitre Ultimax has been synonymous with football in this country over the years, and its new and innovative Ultimax Pro editions for our showpiece competitions will capture the imaginations of players and fans alike.”
Established in 1817 in Huddersfield, England, Mitre has been around since the dawn of professional football and is still present wherever sport is played – at school, in the park or inside the stadium.
Fans can see the specially-designed Ultimax Pro balls at the Emirates FA Cup games from Saturday 5th November and the Ultimax Pro Vitality Women’s FA Cup games from Sunday 13th November.
