Speedo athletes set to Make Waves this summer

As a result of swimming pools being closed for much of 2020, last year witnessed a 20% decline in the global swimwear market*.  However, it’s expected to bounce back in 2021 and, as swimmers get ready to dive in this summer, Speedo is well positioned to take the opportunity, when all eyes are on the pool, to inspire more swim consumers.

Kev McFadyen, Global Brand Director at Speedo, says: “Speedo has an outstanding track record of helping elite athletes perform at their very best and we believe this year will be no exception. With countless innovations, new technology and an incredible history behind us, we’re backing Team Speedo athletes to achieve great things in the pool.”

Since its launch in 2019, over 60% of world records have been broken by swimmers wearing the Speedo Fastskin suits and while the brand is recognised as the leading competition swimwear brand, Speedo also believes the water is for everyone to enjoy.

Speedo applies the exacting standards, required by world class athletes, to its products for every type of swimmer – competition, fitness or leisure. This includes Speedo Sculpture, which uses compression technology to create swimwear that supports and enhances body shape, and Speedo Endurance, a training range which is 100% chlorine resistance and long lasting.

The brand also supports a number of initiatives around the world to encourage under-represented communities to take up swimming, including a longstanding commitment and support of the LGBTQ+ community, a partnership with the Black Swimming Association and initiatives such as Safe Swim Bangladesh.

McFadyen continues: “We want to inspire individuals everywhere to enjoy the freedom and pleasure of being in the water.  This means we are constantly innovating and challenging ourselves to be better and go further – so that all swimmers can be confident they are wearing the very best with Speedo”.
