Pentland Brands celebrates creative talent at New Designers 2015

Over 2 weeks The Business Design Centre, Islington (North London) plays host to 3,000 talented individuals at New Designers graduate show. 2015 marked the 30th anniversary for the UK’s most important exhibition for emerging design and this year Pentland Brands partnered with New Designers to join in the celebration of creative talent.

Katie Greenyer has always been a champion of emerging talent and the importance of supporting graduates:

”New Designers is a great show where I can see 3,000 fresh, exciting and talented designers in one place. It never fails to amaze me the amount of talent and enthusiasm that comes out of our British institutions. Every year the calibre of Graduates is impressive and inspiring and I always see something new! It is the perfect place to recruit new talent and welcome designers across many different disciplines to the Pentland family.”

The Pentland prize was once again awarded to one talented individual after much deliberation from a panel of creative professionals from across the business. Gareth Davies awarded Ryan Panchal of the University of Hertfordshire the Pentland prize for his project entitles teacHER – an empowerment piece that encourages women to learn with and from each other. Ryan was praised for his compelling, thought provoking work that was creative, visually exciting and beautifully executed.

For the first time this year, Pentland Brands had a physical presence at the show. The stand was a constant buzz with enthusiastic graduates seeking advice, interviews and guidance from members of our Pentland Marketing team in portfolio workshops.

Tamara Sivan, spent four days interviewing and advising the graduates at New Designers:

”The level of graduates at the show was inspiring. Their work was so diverse and it was truly a pleasure to see. It is great for us to see so much new talent and even potential future employees in one place and for the graduates it’s an excellent opportunity for them to ask questions and really start to get an understanding of the commercial value of their work.”

Although emerging talent was the main focus, creativity at all levels was celebrated at a Design Pool alumni gathering. This was a great opportunity to reconnect with previous graduates that started their creative career at Pentland and hear about their experiences since their time in Design Pool.
