Our Net Zero Commitment

Pentland Brands is committed to reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across our value chain by 2040.

 

Following a comprehensive review, we have refined our targets to align with the latest climate science and have secured validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

 

In 2024, Pentland Brands’ near-term and long-term science-based emissions reduction targets were approved by the SBTi, including a verified net-zero science-based target for 2040.

To mark our 100-year anniversary, Pentland Brands commits to reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90% by 2032 from a 2021 baseline and to maintaining at least a 90% absolute reduction in these emissions through 2040.

Our approved science-based targets over the next 16 years are:

  • Overall Net-Zero Target: Pentland Brands commits to reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2040.
  • Near-Term Targets (by 2028):
    • Reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 50% from a 2021 baseline.
    • Ensure that 73% of suppliers by spend, covering purchased goods, services, and upstream transportation, have science-based targets.
  • Long-Term Targets (by 2040):
    • Reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90% by 2032 from a 2021 baseline and maintain at least a 90% reduction through 2040.
    • Reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 90% from a 2021 baseline.

These targets align with the SBTi’s Net-Zero Standard, ensuring that our decarbonisation efforts are in line with global best practice to limit warming to 1.5°C.
