Kickers team up with Proper Magazine’s Hikerdelic

Kickers teams up with Proper Magazine’s up-and-coming apparel brand Hikerdelic with an Autumn/Winter 19 footwear capsule collection, which is launching today.

The collaboration sees the creation of the ‘Kick Hikerdelic’ from the classic Kickers ‘Kick Hi’, influenced by Hikerdelic’s love of outdoor pursuits. Consumers can expect three autumnal tones of suede, a hiking lace footwear option, a branded tongue, embossed logos and a unique fleurette.

Neil Summers, founder of Hikerdelic and co-editor of Proper Magazine, says, “Not ones for counting our blessings, when the opportunity came to collaborate on one of the most iconic shoes in the world, we jumped at the chance. The Kickers Kick Hi is more than a just a cool pair of boots, it’s a twentieth icon.

“Whether worn by French school kids, ortho-obsessed 80s casuals, the revolutionary Rik from the Young Ones or a generation of ravers and Brit Poppers, the Kick Hi remains both exotic and ubiquitous.”

Hikerdelic started life as simply apparel that its creators, Mark Smith and Neil Summers, loved to wear, before the brand launched its much-anticipated inaugural Spring/Summer 19 collection this year.

The launch of the capsule collection is accompanied by a short film which follows two protagonists from the outskirts of the Peak District to the brand’s hometown of Stockport, bringing the Hikerdelic ‘Peak to Precinct’ tagline to life.

On Thursday 31 October, the collaboration launched with a store event at The Hip Store in Leeds. Window takeovers, a DJ and feature plinths ensured the product took centre stage and the feedback has been fantastic. Requests for replenishment have come from Hip Store already with 2 colourways sold out within hours, as well as brilliant halo into the Kickers winterised mainline product. We are one of their top performing FTW brands in the last month. Other retailers have sat up and noticed with further requests for replenishment from Scotts and Hanon to name a few.

The collection is available at kickers.co.uk and Hikerdelic.com from 1st November 2019.
