As part of the two-year agreement, Watkins will endorse the brand’s comprehensive range of training wear and rugby lifestyle clothing.
The announcement comes ahead of a brand new campaign of Super League rugby.
After breaking on to the England scene in the 2012 Autumn International Series, the Rhinos academy product, who made his first-grade debut at the tender age of 16, is expected to be a key player again as the club chases Super League success.
Kallum Watkins (25), Leeds Rhinos, said; “I’m extremely excited to be an ambassador for a brand so committed to the game of rugby, and steeped in heritage.”
Canterbury’s Head of Sports Marketing, Simon Rowe, said; “Kallum Watkins is an exciting addition to our ambassador portfolio of rugby talent. Kallum’s fantastic career to date fits perfectly with Canterbury’s commitment to the game. With the added excitement of the Super League about to kick off, he’s been hard at it in training. We’re proud to be working with him for the next two years, and wish him every success in the upcoming campaign.”
The new deal reinforces Canterbury’s commitment to the game and sees Kallum Watkins join rugby league legend Kevin Sinfield, NRL stars Sam Burgess and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck as well as rugby union icons Dylan Hartley, Geoff Parling and former England star, Will Greenwood as Canterbury ambassadors.
