As Head of Innovation, your role will ensure that Pentland Brands is at the forefront of innovation, committed to exploring new business models and delivering high-impact solutions. Our central Innovation ‘R&D Hub’ is a vibrant space where creativity meets strategy, and we're looking for a Head of Innovation to lead our team and take our projects to the next level. Please note, this is a maternity cover fixed term contract.

About the role:

  • Leadership & Team Management: Successfully lead and motivate a team of 6+ to deliver innovative propositions aligned with our strategic plans.
  • Project Management: Oversee multiple live innovation projects, ensuring they are on track and meeting quality standards.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Regularly update senior stakeholders, including the Pentland Executive Team and Pentland Brands Board, on innovation progress and functional KPIs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Product Transformation Director and Brand Innovation Leads to prioritise projects considering budget and resource constraints.
  • External Partnerships: Manage relationships and contracts with external innovation partners from academia and business.
  • Design Thinking & MVP: Lead design sprints around new ideas and deliver minimum viable products (MVPs) with clear recommendations for scaling.
  • Innovation Culture: Embed a more entrepreneurial spirit across the organisation and challenge the status quo.

About You

  • You are an inquisitive problem solver with strong leadership and influencing skills.
  • You thrive in a dynamic environment and are comfortable with ambiguity.
  • You have a proven track record in managing innovation projects and leading cross-functional teams, ideally within the sports apparel or retail sector
  • Your ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships will be key to your success.
