WHAT’S THE MISSION FOR THIS ROLE?
This role will drive substantial growth in our licensing business by identifying, negotiating, and establishing strategic partnerships that enhance our brand’s visibility and revenue streams. This role will focus on expanding our product reach through robust licensing opportunities, contributing to the company's overall growth objectives.
WHAT DOES THIS ROLE DO?
As our Business Development Director, you will be responsible for:
Identify and Source Licensing Opportunities
- Research and identify new business prospects in the licensing sector aligned with company goals.
- Develop a pipeline of potential licensing partners, focusing on sectors that complement and amplify brand reach.
- Leverage market insights to prioritise opportunities that have high growth potential.
Develop and Manage Strategic Partnerships
- Build, nurture, and manage relationships with key industry players to drive successful collaborations.
- Negotiate terms and create mutually beneficial agreements that support long-term growth.
- Align partnerships with the company’s brand values and growth strategies, ensuring consistency across licensed products.
Conduct Market Analysis and Strategic Planning
- Analyse market trends, competitor movements, and industry landscapes to refine licensing strategies.
- Utilise insights to inform partnership targets and guide business development decisions.
- Create data-driven business plans for growth in various licensing segments and align these with sales and revenue objectives.
Manage Sales and Revenue Targets
- Develop and execute comprehensive business plans that outline sales targets and growth milestones.
- Implement sales strategies that focus on meeting and exceeding revenue goals through effective licensing deals.
- Monitor sales performance, adjusting strategies as needed to maximise revenue outcomes.
Lead Negotiation and Contract Management
- Oversee the end-to-end negotiation process to secure favourable terms in licensing agreements.
- Work closely with internal teams (legal, marketing, product) to facilitate smooth onboarding and ensure all agreements comply with licensing laws and IP regulations.
- Manage contract renewals and renegotiations to maintain valuable, long-term partnerships.
Provide Project Management and Reporting
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation and execution of licensing agreements.
- Track and analyse performance metrics for each licensing partnership, preparing reports and offering insights for future improvements.
- Recommend adjustments to improve partner satisfaction, engagement, and renewals.

Skills:
- Strong networking and partnership-building abilities with established contacts in the licensing industry.
- High proficiency in negotiation and contract management.
- Analytical skills to assess market data and competitor trends.
- Project management capabilities for coordinating cross-functional teams effectively.
- Clear communication skills to convey complex ideas to partners and stakeholders.
Experience:
- 8+ years in business development, sales, or licensing, ideally within consumer products, media, or entertainment.
- Proven track record of securing and managing partnerships, with a strong industry network.
- Experience meeting and exceeding revenue targets through licensing initiatives.
- Familiarity with licensing laws, intellectual property, and contract management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software, with experience in using data to drive strategy and decision-making.
